Self Concepts highlighted in Consumer Behaviour (Part 1)

What is self concept? It simply refers to a person’s thoughts and feelings about themselves.

So let’s take a moment to identify the various stages of self concepts

1. Actual self image – How consumers see themselves

Actual self‐image – Lover of food VS. Behavioural response – Loves Mcdonalds



2. Ideal self image – How consumers love to see themselves

Fit vs. use of treadmill

3. Social self image – How consumers want others to see them

Not good at work vs. Studying the concepts

4. Family Self Identify – Identifying one’s self in terms of family

Family man vs. Taking the entire family on a trip to Europe
